Jessica Oliver

Jessica grew up in the North East of England where she completed a Foundation Course and BA Hons in History of Art. Life took her to London until 1995 when she relocated to Edinburgh. In 2012, she attended Leith School of Art to revisit and develop her artistic practice, first as a part-time student and then as a student on the specialised Landscape Course.

As a landscape artist her work is rooted in the investigation of an environment, with a focus on her reminiscence of place and space. Released from direct representation she is free to explore remembered experiences, aiming to capture an understanding of a locale through considered use of light, colour and tone. Drawn marks often add dimension to the surface as she strives to explore the abstract values, each exploration informing the next.
