Line Eskestad

Line Eskestad trained as a traditional printmaker from Fine Art Academy (Det Fynske Kunstakademi) 1980-85.

She primarily works with a printing technique called collagraphy where paperboard is used instead of zinc- or copperplates. It is a very versatile material and allows for both intaglio and relief type of printing. It can be processed in many different ways: engraving, cutting, painting, application of glue etc. – afterwards it is given a protective coat of shellac before it can finally be used for printing. When printing in multiple colours, individual plates are used for each colour.

For many years she worked with multi-chromatic printing, however in the last couple of years she has gradually returned to working in black & white.

A returning theme in her work is the relationship between nature and man.
